Oh My Blush!!

Have you noticed how popular Blush colored wedding dresses have become? This color is present in many of the 2011 Fashion Collections for several well recognized wedding gown designers, including the one and only Vera Wang. Her dresses are always eye-catching but her blush colored fishtail gown design really caught my eye. So much so, I created a collection of photos centered around the color and design of the gown. I am in love!! What do you think? This is defintely a twist from the traditional white or ivory gown. I think its refreshing, simply chic and stylish. The bride that wears this gown is one Fashionista with style and class.

Beyond The Bouquet

I absolutely LOVE these couture floral headdresses created for the Tulips and Pansies: The Headdress Affair runway show in NYC.  Some of the best floral designers participate every year to show their level of skill in the floral design industry.  The annual event raises money for older adults and people living with HIV/AIDS and those in need of rehabilitation and medical help.  Once you see these floral head pieces, you completely forget about Kate Middleton's fashion forward headwear.  What do you think?  Amazing, right?

Fashion Inspired Floral Design

The fashion industry is a strong dictator of what the new trends in floral design will be for any particular season. This year bold, dramatic and simple are trends we have been seeing in floral design. One specific style concept I love is called Color Blocking. This concept, simply put, is a juxtaposition of solid colors with contrasting hues. The effect is bold, dramatic and is a statement-making design style that is very popular right now in fashion, interiors and art. In floral design, the idea would be to seperate different flowers by colors and textures. As a result, attention is redirected to the texture and shape of each flower. The concept is easy to do and refreshing at the same time.

Hello and Welcome to My Very First Blog

Hi everyone and welcome to Flower Pulse!  I am Alisa Smalls and own and operate a floral design company, Perfect Creations and Design.  This blog will cover the many different styles of floral design and how each designer interprets the clients vision.  Because we love all things beautiful, we will also explore beautiful places, objects, interiors and fashion.  All of these elements are used to create the final look of the event.  So as we blog, we want to provide some inspiration to our readers and hopefully give you some new and fresh ideas.  Welcome to Flower Pulse!!!

By the way, check out the beautiful jewel tones from the Gucci Fall 2011 collection.  Breathtaking!   I love how the turquoise is combined with the taupe/olive neutral color.  I also found this luxury hotel interior space, found at the New York Budapest Hotel, that could be a stunning reception design.  Our inspiration design is completed with this collection of deep purple flowers from Karen Tran.  This is definitely a chic and sophisticated look meant for the bold and confident lady who wants to make a statement!  Are you that bold?
